I believe that the changes between these years were cosmetic changes only - color for example.
One of the remarkable things about the Savage is that since its introduction in 1986, the only really major change was the introduction of the 5 speed transmission in 1994.
There were some design changes in the mid 1980's = closing the springs on the folks - but again these were largely cosmetic.
One thing has always been consistant though - an inadequately designed and padded seat!
